E-invoice Authorisation Letter Format
Authorise an accountant, firm or software provider to generate and manage e-invoices on the Invoice Registration Portal for your GSTIN.
What it is
Taxpayers whose aggregate turnover in any financial year since 2017-18 exceeds ₹5 crore must report B2B invoices, export invoices and certain notes to an Invoice Registration Portal (IRP) to obtain an Invoice Reference Number (IRN) and QR code. Many businesses have this done by an accountant, a firm or through ERP software using API access. This letter records whom you have authorised, for which GSTIN and portals, and until when.

An invoice that should have been e-invoiced but was not is not a valid invoice, and the buyer may face problems with ITC. There is a time limit for reporting invoices to the IRP for larger taxpayers; check the current limit and turnover thresholds on the e-invoice portals and gst.gov.in. The taxpayer remains responsible for the correctness of e-invoices generated by an authorised person.
