Frequently asked questions
Is an employer required to issue an experience certificate?
Many employers issue it as standard practice, and standing orders or company policy may provide for a service certificate. Its contents should be factual.
What should an experience certificate include?
The employee's name, designation, department, dates of joining and leaving, main responsibilities and a brief remark on conduct, signed by an authorised person.
Can the experience certificate and relieving letter be combined?
Some employers issue a single letter covering both. Separate letters are common because they serve different purposes.
