The PPF Calculator estimates the maturity value of a Public Provident Fund account at the interest rate notified by the Government for the current quarter, for yearly or monthly deposits of Rs 500 to Rs 1.5 lakh over 15 years or a longer extended period. Interest is worked out on the lowest balance between the 5th and the end of each month and added once a year. Deposits qualify for Section 80C (Section 123 from Tax Year 2026-27) in the old regime, and the interest and maturity amount are exempt.

PPF Maturity Estimate
Work out what a PPF account grows to. The interest rate is set by the Government each quarter; the rate for Oct-Dec 2026 is 7.1% a year, and the calculator assumes it stays the same for the whole period. Interest is calculated each month on the lowest balance between the 5th and the last day of the month and credited at the end of the financial year, so money deposited by the 5th earns interest for that month.

PPF rules at a glance
- Deposit: at least ₹500 and at most ₹1,50,000 in a financial year, in one go or in parts. The ₹1.5 lakh limit covers your own account and accounts you open for minors together.
- Interest: 7.1% a year at present, compounded yearly. It has been 7.1% since April 2020, but it is reviewed every quarter.
- Maturity: 15 full financial years after the year of opening. You can then close the account, keep it without deposits, or extend it in blocks of 5 years with deposits (Form 4 within one year of maturity).
- Loan and withdrawal: a loan is allowed from the third to the sixth year; partial withdrawal from the seventh year, once a year, within the limits in the PPF Scheme, 2019.
- Tax (old regime): deposits qualify for Section 80C (Section 123 read with Schedule XV from Tax Year 2026-27) within the ₹1.5 lakh limit. Interest and the maturity amount are exempt (Section 10(11) of the 1961 Act; carried into the 2025 Act). In the new regime there is no deduction for the deposit, but the interest is still exempt.
