Form 15H: Senior Citizen Declaration for No TDS (up to FY 2025-26)
Declare as a senior citizen that the tax on your income is nil, so that the bank does not deduct TDS on interest paid up to 31 March 2026.
Law version: FY 2025-26 (Income-tax Act, 1961). Checked on 26 Sep 2026.
What it is
Form 15H was a self-declaration under Section 197A(1C) of the Income-tax Act, 1961 by a resident individual aged 60 or more that the tax on their estimated total income for the year is nil. Unlike Form 15G, it could be given even if the income exceeded the basic exemption limit, as long as the final tax after deductions and rebate was nil. It applies only to income paid or credited up to 31 March 2026. From 1 April 2026, it is replaced by Form 121 under Section 393(6) of the Income-tax Act, 2025.

A false declaration is an offence. The payer files a quarterly statement of declarations received. Senior citizens also have higher TDS thresholds on bank interest, so a declaration may not be needed for small amounts. For Tax Year 2026-27, use Form 121.
Form 15H applies only to income paid or credited up to 31 March 2026. From 1 April 2026 (Tax Year 2026-27) Forms 15G and 15H are replaced by a single Form 121 under Section 393(6) of the Income-tax Act, 2025.
