Net Worth Certificate Format (Reference Template)
See how a Chartered Accountant's net worth certificate is laid out: the person or entity, the date, assets, liabilities, net worth and the UDIN.
What it is
A net worth certificate states the net worth of an individual, firm or company on a given date: the value of assets less liabilities. Embassies ask for it with student and visitor visa applications, banks with loan proposals, and government departments with tenders and licences. Only a practising Chartered Accountant can certify it, after examining the supporting documents. This page and the template show the usual format for reference; it is not a certificate.

Stamp duty, registration and filing
A certificate is issued under the ICAI Guidance Note on Reports or Certificates for Special Purposes, and each certificate signed by a practising Chartered Accountant must carry a UDIN generated on the ICAI UDIN portal (udin.icai.org), which the recipient can verify there. The values depend on the purpose: some authorities want cost, others market value, so the basis must be stated. A document without a valid UDIN, or prepared by the applicant, is not a CA certificate.

Frequently asked questions
Can I prepare my own net worth certificate?
No. You can prepare the statement of assets and liabilities, but only a practising Chartered Accountant can certify it, after checking the evidence, and generate a UDIN for it.
How can a net worth certificate be verified?
Enter the UDIN, the CA's membership number and the certificate details on the ICAI UDIN portal, udin.icai.org.
Is property valued at cost or market value?
It depends on what the requesting authority asks for. Visa applications often accept market value supported by a valuation report; the certificate should state the basis used.
