GST Declaration of Principal Place of Business
Declare the premises from which you will run your business when applying for GST registration in Form GST REG-01.
What it is
Every GST applicant must state a principal place of business: the main place in the State where the business is carried on and its books are kept. The application in Form GST REG-01 asks for proof of the premises, such as an ownership document, rent agreement or consent letter, and the nature of possession. A signed declaration describing the premises and how they are occupied is often uploaded along with that proof, especially where the premises are shared or owned by a relative.

Stamp duty, registration and filing
Proof of the premises is mandatory with REG-01, and officers often raise queries in Form GST REG-03 if the documents do not match the declared address. Physical verification of premises may be required in some cases. Changes in the principal place of business are core-field amendments and need approval. No stamp duty applies to the declaration itself.
